Pratis Barns is one of Fife’s finest examples of a traditional covered cattle court, built in the late 1700’s. The 6-bay barns form the heart of the venue for your reception and party, with endless options of spaces to style as your own.
The ceremony barn offers a truly rustic, relaxed and beautiful feel to your wedding service; as an old hay barn it has all the original doors and cubby holes for the hay being brought in for the cattle. It is adorned with fairy lights and candles and yours to transform in to a magical, romantic backdrop in which to get married.
Ellie and Jonny first got in touch with me in August 2020. Their email immediately caught my interest as they told me a little bit about their wedding ideas and where they were getting married and it turned out we had a shared love of Harry Potter. In fact Ellie and I are both Hufflepuffs!!
They had chosen Pratis Barns as their venue and the wedding was set for October 2021. I immediately had a vision of autumnal colours, pumpkins and fairy lights and thank fully we were on the same page. They wanted to incorporate their love of Harry Potter in their wedding cake and had some great ideas. Due to Covid we couldn’t meet but they collected a sample box of cakes to try at home and then when it was allowed, they came to my studio to discuss their ideas in more detail. Ellie had brought a swatch of colour from her bridesmaid dresses to help me with the colours on the cake. They asked for some golden snitches and the Deathly Hallows symbol to be incorporated into the cake and they also wanted some of my sugar flowers which are always a pleasure to make. It was so lovely to be able to use an autumnal colour theme for them.
When I arrived at Pratis Barns on the morning of their wedding the venue was set up and looking spectacular with so much attention to detail. The tables were named after places from Harry Potter, there was a guest book with a feathered quill pen, beautiful autumnal floristry and even a Platform 9 3/4 which I had great fun having my picture taken at! Take a look at some of the photos below to be inspired by this magical venue. Some of the photos are mine but the really great ones were taken by the incredibly talented Nicola from Nicola Campbell Photography. If you're still to book your wedding photographer you should definitely get in touch with her.
Pratis Barns is a wonderful venue to decorate and make your own. I highly recommend it.
Thank you for reading and if you’re looking for a wedding cake please don’t hesitate to get in touch and tell me all about your ideas. I’m looking forward to hearing from you.
