Your wedding cake is more than just a delicious after dinner treat; it's a symbol of your love and commitment. Planning your wedding cake is an essential part of the wedding preparation process. However, many couples wonder when the best time is to book their wedding cake maker. Well, I'm here to help so let's get started.
Start Early: The golden rule for booking a wedding cake maker is to start early. Ideally, you should begin the process at least a year to eighteen months before your wedding date, especially if you're getting married during a peak wedding season or on a popular date. Some couples are even booking in their wedding cakes two years in advance to ensure I am available to make their cake for them.
Consider Your Wedding Date: Your wedding date plays a huge role in determining when to book your cake maker. If you're getting married during peak wedding season (which is April to September if you weren't sure) or in the Easter or other school holidays if you're a teacher, it's crucial to secure your cake maker as soon as possible. These dates tend to fill up quickly, so early booking is essential. There is nothing worse than having to tell a couple I don't have their date free.
Cake Tasting : Once you have your wedding date and venue secured, the next step is to get you booked in. To book with me I charge a non-refundable £100 booking fee which guarantees your date and means you get to sample some delicious cake. Upon booking I offer all of my couples a sample box of five of my most popular flavours and you are able to try them in the comfort of your own home.
Account for Your Theme and Colours: If you have a specific wedding theme and colour palette, it's important to ensure that your cake complements these elements. Booking your wedding cake with plenty of time provides the opportunity for us to collaborate closely. This enables us to craft a cake design that harmonizes perfectly with the aesthetic of your wedding. One of the aspects I absolutely love is having a list of flowers in your bouquet, as it allows me to skilfully create lifelike sugar flowers that can beautifully adorn and complement your cake.
Budget Planning: Obviously your wedding cake is a part of your budget, and booking your cake maker early gives you an idea of the cost and allows you to allocate funds accordingly. This helps prevent budget constraints as your wedding date approaches. As a guide my couples tend to spend between £650-£850+ per wedding cake.
Flexibility for Changes: Booking early also allows for flexibility. If you change your mind about the design or flavours, you'll have plenty of time to make adjustments without feeling rushed or stressed.
Last-Minute Availability: While early booking is the best option, sometimes unexpected circumstances require last-minute planning. If you're in a rush or have a short engagement period, please don't hesitate to contact me as I may have some last minute availability.
So, booking your wedding cake maker should definitely be a top priority in your wedding planning timeline. Starting early, considering your wedding date, and ensuring all details align with your theme and budget will help you secure the perfect cake for your special day. Remember, the sooner you book your cake maker, the more time you have to make your cake dreams come true. It really is NEVER too early to book your cake maker.
